Welcome to 8 days Rwanda luxury safari. The safari will take you to Rwanda’s best attractions and enjoy the serenity of luxury safari lodges and city hotels. Participate in different activities like gorilla trekking, sight viewing, cultural visits and city tours.
It will cover two national parks and one lake which will leave you with memorable moments as you tour around in the boat cruise, sunbathing and swimming. This safari can be tailored to suit your scheduled plan and can be reversed depending on your arrival time.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Kigali international airport and check in at the hotel
The flight from your home country will take you to Kigali international airport where you will meet and greet the professional driver-guide, and after pack your luggage in the safari vehicle which is well built.
Rwanda is at peace and has well-established infrastructures and its capital city is then cleansed in the whole of Africa. The driver-guide will take you to a five star booked accommodation.
Day 2: Travel to Nyungwe national park and visit the enroute attractions
In the morning after breakfast, the driver guide will take Nyungwe national park. This park is famous for being the home of 13 primates; it has diverse of more than 1050 plant species, 85 mammals and 310 bird species. It’s also known for its canopy walk, the only one in east Africa.
You will have several stopovers in the different attractions you come across for example visiting Nyanza palace, Murambi genocide memorial centre and Butare Museum. And late in the evening, you will check in the luxury safari lodge in Nyungwe forest National Park.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and East Africa canopy walk
Wake up early and head to the park office for a briefing where instructions like not making noise, do not mimic, putting on dull colours and not using flashlights among others.
After you will be led by the park ranger who will take guide you through the forest as you look for our cousins. You will be allowed an hour in their presence as you enjoy their presence while they are playing, grooming their children, feeding among others.
Then after trekking, you will head back to the lodge for your mid lunch as you prepare for the canopy walk.
This gives one a chance to spot more primates that jump from one tree to another and among others include, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys.
Day 4: Drive to Lake Kivu
On this day after leisure breakfast, checkout from the room and start the journey to lake Kivu located in western Rwanda on the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and it’s one of the great lakes.
Enjoy a breath-taking drive through the attractive landscapes and on the arrival, you will relax and take your lunch.
Day 5: Full day Lake Kivu exploration
Explore the beauty of Lake Kivu through taking a boat cruise, participate in fishing and relax at the beautiful beaches on Lake Kivu. You will take memorable photos as you sunbath, play beach soccer among others.
Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park after breakfast to catch up with the time for lunch and other optional activities like twin lakes tour and scenic viewing. The road trip rewards you with tremendous scenery as you take photos and record videos.
You will later return and head to check in the booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
An early delicious spiced tea will be followed with a short drive to the park for another briefing; you will penetrate the forest to search for the great apes. After locating them, you will be allowed to stay with them for only 1 hour as you watch their movements and daily lifestyle.
Trekking the forest is tiresome because it involves walking long distances as your searching for these apes. After the experience, you will be awarded a certificate at the headquarters and later lunch at the lodge.
In the evening, you have two options; either to visit the Ibyiwachu cultural community centre to learn more about the Kinyarwanda culture or to hike to Dian Fossey graveyard.
Day 8: Golden monkey trekking and Departure to Kigali city.
On arrival, you will head to the park headquarters for golden monkey trekking and assemble for briefing. These instructions will guide you to carry out the activity smoothly. After the park ranger will take you the forest to search for these primates.
Other attractions that can be spotted are red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys among others.
Depart the park to Kigali city and if time allows, you will visit the city of Rwanda like the Rwanda genocide memorial centre, craft markets, among others. After proceed to the airport to board your flight back home.
