20 Days Uganda Discovery Safari

In this 20 days Luxury Uganda safari, expect an unforgettable experience and a lifetime adventure in all the remarkable destinations in the country such as Queen Elizabeth national park; paradise to the tree-climbing lions, Bwindi impenetrable forest national park; home to the endangered mountain Gorillas, Kibale forest national park; the primate world, Murchison falls national park; home to the world’s most powerful waterfalls, River Nile; the source of the longest river on earth, Lake Mburo; asylum to the impalas, Kidepo Valley national park; Uganda’s true wilderness and Sipi falls

You will engage in very exciting activities such as primate trekking, game viewing, boat cruise, birding, white water rafting, photography, canoe ride, and hiking among others. You can inform us in advance if you prefer flying to road drive, but the rest of the package such as accommodation, tour guide, and the destinations will exceed your expectations. This luxury trip starts and ends at Entebbe international airport.


Day 1: Pickup and city Tour

Upon landing at the airport, our driver-guide will meet and brief you about this unforgettable luxury safari in Uganda, explaining the acceptable behaviors and responding to your questions before driving off to Kampala City, but first visiting the reptile village where you will encounter different primate species such as the tortoise, chameleons, and snakes among others in Entebbe.

Thereafter, you will proceed to Kampala for lunch, and then visit the Museum, and the local markets to purchase a few items you might be lacking. Afterward, you will proceed to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Depart Kampala for Jinja, via sezibwa falls

After amazing morning breakfast, you will depart the hotel for Jinja; home to the source of River Nile which doubles as the longest river on earth.  The journey lasts for 3-4 hours, through a series of traffic-jam and then the famous Mabira forest.

You will have an enroute stopover at sezibwa falls; a sharp edged rock, with thundering waterfalls through steep ridged stones. You will enjoy the beautiful views of different bird species and interactions with the locals who have come for blessings and perform several rituals at the spiritual point. Thereafter, you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Explore River Nile and drive to Sipi Falls

Early in the morning, you will enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, followed by a 4-5 hours’ exploration at the Nile, starting with white water rafting where teamwork and courage are paramount for the success of the entire event, and then a visit to the source of River Nile on a boat; to stand at a point where the world’s longest river begins.

Thereafter, you will head for lunch at the lodge and then checkout for a transfer to Sipi Falls on the foothills of Mount Elgon; one of Uganda’s newest cities and home to Mountain Elgon national park. Your journey lasts for 3-4 hours driving through sugarcane and rice plantations, and the fascinating backdrop of Wanale Hill. You will arrive late in the evening for dinner and a nap.

Day 4: Half day hike on Mountain Elgon and Sipi Falls

At sunrise, you will enjoy a cup of coffee served to you at the lodge, and then drive to Mountain Elgon national park trailhead for a briefing about hiking, followed by a 4-5 hours’ hike, through the sippi trailhead which will expose you to fascinating views of the Mountain peak (Wagagai), bamboo trees and varies primate species such as the baboon, and monkeys, coffee plantations and beautiful landscape of the park.

There will be a lunch break, before arriving at the three might falls where you will spend your evening while having fun, bathing under the falls, and taking selfies. After the day’s experience, you will drive back to the lodge to relax with dinner and a peaceful nap.

Day 5: Depart Sipi for Kidepo Valley national park – Via Nyero rock painting

At sunrise, you will depart Sipi Falls after breakfast for a 9-10hour scenic drive to kidepo valley national park; gifted with a wide range of wildlife.

The drive has an enroute stopover at Nyero rock painting in Ngora district, where you will be amazed by the ancient drawings on the stones left behind for decades and have not been explained to date.

You will also enjoy the views of the rolling hills, and the local huts of the Karamojong people, in case you see anyone half-naked, it is culture and no need of condemning. Your lunch will be en-route, whereas dinner and overnight will be at the park upon your arrival.

Day 6: Morning game drive and Karamojong cultural experience

After breakfast, head out to Narus valley in high spirits to look out for the four of Africa’s Big5 namely the Buffalos, elephants, lions, and leopard if you are lucky, accompanied by the Oribis, waterbucks, cheetahs, Jackson’s hartebeests, giraffes, zebras and warthogs among others, plus birds such as the ostrich, egrets all feeding, relaxing and hunting in this gigantic savanna grassland. Kidepo Valley has a very stunning landscape which is perfect for photography and sightseeing.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an amazing Karamong cultural experience which will last for approximately 2-3 hours, while listening to exciting stories and watching the thrilling dances and songs of these traditional diehards.

You are free to participate in the dances, purchase some souvenirs, and drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Apoka viewing point and depart for Murchison falls national park

At dawn, watch the sunrise and the mammals rising for the day’s tasks through the Apoka viewpoint, followed by a tasty breakfast, and checking out of the lodge for a transfer to Murchison Fall’s national park; Uganda’s largest national park hosting the world’s most powerful waterfalls.

You will have Lunch in Gulu city, before proceeding to the park, with an amazing Game drive. You will be served with dinner and provided a cozy room for a nap.

Day 8: Game viewing and boat trip along the Victoria Nile.

At dawn, you will have the privilege of game viewing through either a hot air balloon or a 4X4 game drive vehicle throughout the Northern sector of the park, while trusting your luck for both the preys and predators, such as the Buffalos, giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, warthogs, and elephants among others.

You will also encounter several bird species such as the crested cranes, Egyptians geese, and the sought after shoebill stock among others, and the rare tree species such as the whistling acacia.

You will have a picnic lunch, followed by an afternoon bottom of the falls boat cruise which exposes you to the thundering waterfalls, the Nile crocodiles, Hippos, several bird species, and mammals among others.

Thereafter, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Top of the falls hike and depart to Kibale national park

At day break, you will enjoy a rewarding top of the falls hike, after breakfast which enables you to watch the thundering waterfalls on close range, as well as the rainbow on a good day.

Thereafter, you depart Murchison national park with an 8-9 hour scenic drive to Kibale forest national park, but with lunch enroute. On arrival at the lodge, retire with a mouth water dinner meal and a nap at the lodge.

Day 10: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Start the day with a delicious cup of coffee before heading to the park headquarters for a pre trekking briefing which commences at 8:00 am, with all the instructions well pronounced and documents verified.

Thereafter, the park rangers will accompany you through the hills, slopes and the thick bushes in search for the apes, making different vocalizations, feeding and resting deep in the forest. The exercise can last for 1-7 hours depending on your trekking speed and the direction the creatures have taken, plus one extra hour to study the unique behaviors of these cuisines.

Thereafter, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon visit to Bigodi swamp; one of Uganda’s Ramsar sights and home to several primates and birds. Call off the day with dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 11:  Morning forest walk and Depart Kibale for Queen Elizabeth national park

On this day, you will have a guided forest walk to see the different forest occupant’s, enjoy a physical exercise and engage in rewarding photography before checking out of the lodge for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, while traversing stunning sceneries, rolling hills, the backdrop of the snowcapped mountain Rwenzori and the evergreen plantations, with a lunch drop en-route. Your arrival will be in the evening for dinner and overnight. 

Day 12: Full day game drive

After a delicious breakfast, you will have a morning and evening game drive within the vast Queen Elizabeth national park, exploring all the hideouts and feeding places for the lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, giraffes and zebras among others on a game drive.

You will have a picnic lunch break and then another evening game drive in search of not only the mammals but also the primates, reptiles, and several bird species residing in this heaven. Queen Elizabeth national park was named after the queen of England in recognition of her visit and support and it stands as the most visited national park in the country, with a variety of flora and fauna for visitors to look out for.

The landscape is very beautiful, with dotted trees and thriving savanna grassland. You will end this day with dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 13:  Exit Queen Elizabeth for Bwindi Impenetrable national park

You will depart Queen Elizabeth national park for Bwindi impenetrable forest with an en-route game drive at the ishasha sector in search for the different Tree Climbing Lions either on the tree branches or laying a trap for prey it has spotted.

Furthermore, you will have lunch in the sector before proceeding to the Buhoma sector where you will have a relaxed evening, followed by dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 14: Gorilla trekking and Batwa pygmies encounter

You will have breakfast very early in the morning, and then Join the rest of the day’s gorilla trekking at the park headquarters for briefing and document verification by the park stewards who will tell you the code of conduct while with the gentle apes, allocate you to a gorilla group of your choice and then escort you to the Jungle to track, an activity that can last for approximately 1-8 hours depending on your hiking speed and the route the gentle apes have taken.

The park rangers use their experience and knowledge to find these creatures and make the tiresome exercise very exciting and one not to forget. They will help you identify some of the primates, tree species, and birds on your way to the gorillas, and then lecture you on the unique behaviors for the dominant silverback and his family during one extra rewarded to you upon meeting your cousins.

Thereafter, you will depart the jungle for lunch, proceeded by an exciting cultural encounter with the Batwa pygmies; one of the oldest cultures on earth with the shortest people in Uganda. The Batwa were once wanderers and gatherers who were displaced from Bwindi and Mgahinga forest but still uphold their cultural believes and inheritance.

You will get entertained through traditional dances, songs, and stories, plus taking you through their ancient caves. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 15:  Drive to Lake Bunyonyi – relaxation

After breakfast, you will depart Bwindi impenetrable national park to Lake Bunyonyi; second Switzerland in Africa, and surrounded by over 27 islands with historical significance and very calm ambiance.

You spend 2-3 hours on the drive to your lodge, arriving for lunch and a relaxed evening by the lake shores. You can choose to swim or engage in any other water sports in this bilharzia free lake, before retiring with dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 16: Canoe ride and relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi

On this day, breakfast comes first while watching the birds take to the sky and make sweet melodies as they flap their wings in the sign of victory and joy. You will have a 3-5 hours’ canoe ride, to get a clear view of the different Islands as well as discover their historical signifies as the guide will explain.

You can take this opportunity to ask questions and take selfies before returning to the lodge for lunch and a relaxed evening the lake shores while enjoying the calm ambiance and stunning attractions.  You will call off this day with dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 17: Depart Lake Bunyonyi for Lake Mburo national park

At sunrise, you will stretch your legs for about one-two hours before departing the lodge for a 5-6 hour fascinating drive to Lake Mburo national park; one of Uganda’s rewarding destination with a wide range of biodiversity, flora, and fauna, but with few predators.

You will enjoy the drive through the green plantations, rolling hills, and the Ankole long-horned cattle among others, with an enroute stopover at Igongo cultural center, take photos and have lunch. Thereafter, you will proceed to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

You will have your breakfast at daybreak, followed by a 4-5 hours’ game drive around the park in the quest for impalas which are the majority among the antelope family, buffaloes, zebras, Oribis, waterbuck, elephants, waterbucks, and the giraffes among others, feeding or resting in the wild. A lip-smacking Lunch meal will follow the game drive.

At 2:00 pm, you will head for a rewarding boat cruise which will off you the opportunity of watching the mammals, rare bird species, Hippos, and crocodiles, plus take photos and settle your curiosity about an experience on a boat ride.

After 2-3 hours, drive back to the lodge and refresh while waiting for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 19: Guided nature walk and Igongo cultural experience

After a lip-smacking breakfast, you will have a rewarding two hour guided nature walk around the designated areas which will allow you to watch mammals such as the Buffaloes, Impalas, and the rest on in close range, as well as take very fascinating photographs. No need for fear because there is no predator found in this park, though you must be careful so as not to be left behind or litter the place.

After the nature walk, you will have some time to enjoy the ambiance and some fruits before heading to Igongo cultural center; a one-stop center for all the cultures of western Uganda. You will have fun, interact with the natives, and then participate in singing and dancing for the entire day, besides the time for a lunch break.

After the whole day’s experience, you will have a sunset drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 20: Departure

At sunrise, you will have a relaxed breakfast, before checking out of the lodge for a transfer to Kampala city for a simple city tour and lunch, before proceeding to your hotel or to the airport for a flight to your next destination.
