This offer is specifically for you, a carefully designed package comprising of fun, comfort, and discovery. You will visit three of Africa’s famous destinations, two in East Africa and one in central Africa.
There will be a boat cruise and game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park, Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk in Kibale forest national park, and Lake Bunyonyi tour in Uganda, Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park and Lake Kivu canoe ride in Rwanda, and Mount Nyiragongo hike in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The trip starts in Uganda (the pearl of Africa) and ends in Rwanda (a country dotted with thousand hills).
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale national park
On this day, our company representative will meet and brief you at either the airport or your Hotel; explaining each and everything you will need to know about the package. Thereafter, he will start the engine for a 5-6 hours’ drive through a tarmac road while enjoying the fascinating views of the rolling hills and green plantations.
Upon reaching Fortportal, you will enjoy a delicious lunch meal and city tour before proceeding to the park for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk
Your driver-guide will pick you up as soon as breakfast is done, for a drive to the park’s headquarters to join other members for a briefing and document verification by park rangers which commences at 8:00 am.
Chimp tracking activity lasts for 1-6 hours depending on your speed and the direction the creatures have taken, yet it presents an opportunity of encountering several other reptiles such as chameleons, primates such as the baboons, monkeys, birds and unique tree species among others.
After confirming that your cousins the chimpanzees exist and take some photos, you will return to your lodge for lunch and then spend the evening exploring Bigodi swamp where you have the opportunity of watching several other primates, especially the baboon and birds, plus the local natives carrying on with their daily chores.
You will call off this day with a yummy dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Depart Kibale for Queen Elizabeth National park – evening game drive
after a peaceful night, you will wake up to an energy-giving cup of coffee, followed by an eye-opening drive to queen Elizabeth national park, a 3-4 hours’ drive, while enjoying the sight of the snow-capped mountain Rwenzori, green plantations, and the buzzing Fortportal city, where you will have lunch, visit the Toro Kingdom for some cultural insights before heading to the park for evening game drive, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
At 05:00hrs, lights turn on as you organize for breakfast which will be served very early in the morning before you depart the lodge for a remarkable 3-4 hours’ game drive in the visiting queen Elizabeth national park, watching the stunning landscapes, mammals both preys and predators namely the lions, elephants, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, leopards and warthogs among others, birds such as the crested cranes and the Rwenzori Turaco, and rare tree species among others.
Thereafter, you will get under a huge tree shade and enjoy some fruits before departing to the Lodge for lunch, followed by a boat cruise at 14:00hrs along the Kazinga channel where you will spot schools of hippos, crocodiles and several other mammals and birds quenching their thirst. You will then call off the day with dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Depart Queen Elizabeth N/park for Volcanoes national park – enroute Lake Bunyonyi
You will welcome this day with breakfast and an optional nature walk, followed by a scenic drive to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda. The driver-guide will first take you to enjoy the cool breeze as you have lunch at the shores of Lake Bunyonyi which is surrounded by over 27 historical islands and calm serene.
You will enjoy a 30minute to 1-hour canoe ride before proceeding to Volcanoes national park in northern Rwanda; arriving at your lodge in the evening for some refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Mountain gorilla tracking and Cultural encounter
At day crack, breakfast will be served before you drive to the park’s headquarters for a pre trekking briefing by the park rangers at 08:00hrs. They will show you the different documentaries of the Gorilla families in the park explain the acceptable behaviors and allocate you to a specific gorilla family which you will track through their guidance for 1-6 hours depending on the direction they have taken and your physical fitness.
Mountain gorillas are human’s closest relatives, sharing 98% of human DNA and relatively similar characteristics. They are known for living in families led by a dominant silverback whose instruction is followed by each member of the group.
There are over 10 families here though you will track only one of your choice and watch, take photos and ask questions in the one hour left for you to watch them play, rest or feed.
Thereafter, you will depart the park for lunch, followed by the evening visit to the Ibyiwachu cultural village to enjoy typical Rwandan culture, dances, beauty, and stories until sunset when you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Depart Volcanoes national park for Virunga national park
On this day, you will depart Volcanoes national park for Virunga National park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, crossing undulating hills, thriving plantations, and the native Rwandese waving with happy smiles while bidding farewell to you.
You will arrive at the Congo-Rwanda border and change your documents before proceeding for lunch and ending the journey at your lodge. You can spend the evening resting in the beautiful gardens or you visit the night plantation or Goma City before the time for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Ascend Mountain Nyiragongo
You will start your day with a very heavy breakfast before exiting the lodge to Mount Nyiragongo trailhead for a briefing which commences at 10 am, followed by the actual hike which follows the briefing.
The guides will tell you the rules of hiking and allocate you some porters who will help in carrying your luggage and any other support. Hiking Mount Nyiragongo lasts for 5-6 hours with lunch enroute and no one is left behind no matter the speed.
On arriving at the peak of the Mountain, you will admire the red boiling lava lake, and take photos before calling off the day with dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 9: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and travel to Lake Kivu
At dawn, you will have a heavy breakfast as you admire one of the world’s most active volcanoes, as well as the beautiful landscape surrounding this historical mountain. Thereafter, you will descend Nyiragongo while enjoying the stunning views of Virunga national park, encountering several rare bird species and watching different primate species such as the baboons and several families of monkeys.
On reaching the starting point, you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to Lake Kivu for lunch and to spend the entire day relaxing by the calm lakeshores, swimming if you wish, and many more activities. After, dinner and overnight follow around Lake Kivu.
Day 10: Depart Lake Kivu to Kigali international airport
After a yummy breakfast at the lodge, you will have a canoe ride as you enjoy the stunning views of the landscapes and Islands surrounding the lake, and listen to the narrations from your guide for about 2 hours.
Thereafter, get back to the lodge, bid farewell to your new friends and embark on a drive to Kigali international airport, but with an enroute stopover at the genocide memorial site, the local craft markets and then for lunch before arriving at your hotel in Kigali city or at the airport for an outbound flight.
