Detailed safari

Day one: Arrival, Lake Kivu and Virunga national park

Our company representative will happily receive you at Kigali international airport; Rwanda, for this remarkable 3 days safari in Virunga national park; the Democratic Republic of Congo. He will brief you about the different activities as well as respond to your concerns before hitting the road to Virunga national park for a lifetime Mountain Gorilla trekking opportunity.

You will have a stopover at Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s freshwater lake for lunch, and Boat cruise before proceeding with the Journey, whereby you will cross the scenic Rwanda-Congo border post, enjoy the views of the undulating Hills and green plantations. As you arrive at the park in the evening, proceed to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.

Day two:  Mountain gorilla trekking and Village walk

At the start of this day, you will be served with a very delicious breakfast, before setting off for an exciting one to six-hour Mountain Gorilla trekking at the historical Virunga national park; One of the oldest national parks in Africa. Mountain Gorillas are only found in Africa; in five destinations situated at the Virunga chain of mountains, namely; Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park in Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The exercise starts at 8:00 am with a briefing by the park rangers who explain to you the dos and don’ts of tracking these rare creatures, and verify your documents before guiding you through the jungle in search for these Apes.

The tracking challenge depends on the direction the creatures have taken plus your physical fitness, however, the unique primates, bird species, and trees species keep you concentrating up to the point when you meet the kings of the jungle feeding, playing or resting. After spending the one-hour taking photos, and watching the apes, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and then a village walk in the evening to learn how village life is. Day three: Return to Kigali

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and then check out of the lodge for a 5-6 hours’ drive to Kigali international airport for your flight to the next destination. You will have an en-route stopover at the Nyanza palace and in Kigali Town for lunch.
