Welcome to Kenya as you fly from Kenyatta international airport / Wilson airport to Maasai Mara national reserve. This is a premier destination for wildlife in Kenya and Maasai Mara is declared a 7th wonder of the world. You will be able to spot much wildlife in the different game drives, enjoy the beautiful scenery in your private safari vehicle and also sleep in comfortable luxury safari lodges or tented camps. Among other animals you will spot are the Big five including lions, cape buffaloes, leopards, rhinos and African elephants, different antelopes, primates, unique bird species like the Abyssinian ibis, vultures among others.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Maasai Mara national reserve
Your assigned driver-guide will meet you at the hotel in Nairobi and give you a quick brief about the 3 days’ luxury safari to Maasai Mara national reserve. You will enjoy a short transfer to a nearby airstrip called Wilson airport.
Board and fly to the national reserve which takes 45 minutes and on arrival, you will be welcomed by the local guide who will be well dressed in Maasai attire i.e. red and black striped lesus. He will quickly give you a briefing about the reserve and its habitants and among them re the Maasai people who keep cattle.
You will straight away have a short game drive as you transfer to the luxury lodge in Maasai Mara for your lunch. At around 1600hours, you will head for the evening game drive to discover the wildlife of this reserve.
Day 2: Full day Maasai Mara national reserve exploration
This will be a full day game viewing through game drives, you will pack your lunch and in the afternoon, you will have a lunch picnic in the wild which most tourists call it going wild.
You will have a chance to see many wildlife in the plains and over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Also, millions and a thousand of wildebeest and zebras respectively have been seasonally migrating in these plains.
Among other animals are topis, elephants, warthogs, giraffes, buffaloes, cheetahs are spotted in this reserve. Late in the evening, you will return to the luxury safari lodge.
Day 3: Early morning game drive and then fly back to Wilson airstrip
You will embark on the morning game drive after your breakfast and after 2hours return to the lodge for mid breakfast. Then head to the airstrip to fly back to Nairobi which will be followed by a drop off at Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta international airport to fly back home.
